U-Choice In is a straightforward, no-frills Chinese takeout spot nestled on Kaheka Street right next to Don Quijote in Honolulu. It’s not a sit-down restaurant in the traditional sense, but more of a casual grab-and-go place where locals swing by for comforting, familiar Chinese flavors that hit the spot when you’re craving a quick meal with some heart.

The atmosphere is functional and efficient, designed to keep orders moving quickly. This makes it an easy choice for those days when you want something satisfying without fuss—whether you're on a lunch break, grabbing dinner after work, or just stopping in while shopping nearby. Expect a lineup of classic dishes like roast duck noodle soup, char siu steamed or baked manapua (pork buns), and fried mochi balls with pork filling, all reflecting a local take on Cantonese-style Chinese cuisine.

Many regulars appreciate the generous portions, especially the rice plates and fried rice options, which come together as filling meals without stretching your budget. The baked manapua stands out with its soft bun and rich pork filling, a comforting contrast to the steamed version, while the roast pork and duck offer tender textures with savory depth. Dim sum snacks like steamed dumplings and sticky mochi balls add variety if you want a taste of something small but satisfying.

Service here is friendly and quick, aiming to keep pace with a steady flow of takeout orders. This spot thrives on convenience but doesn’t skimp on flavor authenticity; the hanging roasted meats displayed upfront lend a certain old-school Chinese deli vibe that many locals find reassuring.

U-Choice In is best for anyone who needs a reliable, hearty bite without sitting down for a long meal—office workers, shoppers, and residents nearby who know what they want and want it done well. Early to mid-evening sees a good rush, so if you prefer a quieter visit, mid-afternoon might be the sweet spot. For those who love a simple, filling meal with familiar local flavors, U-Choice In offers a practical and honest stop.

Ate fried rice with 1 choice for $9.37 tax included at U Choice In restaurant at the Don Quijote on Kaheka St. It is an easy choice when I am not in the mood for anything much. They give good amount so it is filling and it is very convenient.

My measure of authentic Chinese food are the hanging ducks or slabs of roasted pork that greet you as you walk in. We love to order the steamed buns with pork in the middle and they also have a baked version of this. Order a couple of those baked buns and a bowl of noodle soup, it'll be one of the simplest and most satisfying meals you'll ever have. It's definitely filling so share with a friend or love one.

So I have been going here for years because I love Don Quijote nut this is the first time I have written a review. So I have lived in San Francisco and these guys are definetly the real thing. They have great duck and Char Siu as well as roast pork. I usually get the baked manapua and the pork hash. The baked manapua has a nice soft bun and the filling is great fresh with lots of meat. And the pork hash is great because it has chunks of water chestnut and other delicious veggies mixed in with the pork hash. The service has always been fast and friendly and the decor is well traditional Chinese restaurant .

Their manapua is AMAZING. I highly recommend the steamed pork manapua. It's also super affordable, only $3 for one!! The lady that helped us out was super nice and friendly as well. It's also conveniently located next to Don Quijote!

Steamed and baked char siu manapua was good. Char siu filling was close to what Libby’s used to be. White rice cake was good, pork hash was good - this was close to what Libby’s used to be too. Roast pork was tender on the inside and had a nice crunchy outside. Gin dui (sesame coated chewy dessert) was also good. Only went 4/5 because the U Choice staff at the counter forgot to include my char siu sou (Chinese roast pork pastry puff). Overall good dim sum. I recommend you try it!

The convenient location (right next to Don Quijote) save me trips to Chinatown to get char siu and rice cakes. Char siu never disappoints. Rice cakes are so soft and don’t have that sour taste. They also sell some local favorites like manapua and pork hash which sell pretty quickly. I saw people ordering half a dozen or a dozen each time. Prices are reasonable. Still no dine-in at this time.

I live on Maui and whenever i'm on Oahu, manapua is one of the items I take home. I prefer the baked manapua, although I get both steamed and baked. The pork hash is very big with a good amount of pork. Lots of different items to choose from.
